~j SCUTH MISSISSIPPI ELECTRIC POWER ASSCCIATION NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF M'Et:C"ENT TO CCHSTRUCTION PERMITS The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 7 to Construction Permit CPPR-118 and Amendment No. 7 to Construction Pemit CPPR-119, issued to Mississippi Power and Ligitt Company, Middle South Energy, Inc. and South Mississippi Electric Power Association for the Grand Galf Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, (the Facility) located in Claiborne County, Mississipni.
The amendments delete monitoring and capacity requirements for sediment
- j retention basins from the Environmental Protection Program Respecting Construction of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2.
Such monitoring and capacity require-

- l ments for the sediment retention basins are currently covered by a National i
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for the facility which is unaffected by these Construction Pemit Amendments. The amendments are effective as of the the date of issuance.
,,The applicathon for these anendnents complies with the standards and require-ments of the Atmic Enercy Act of 1954, as amended, (the Act) and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the pemit amendments. Prior public notice of these amendments was not required since the amendments do not involve a significant hazards consideration.
