DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 NUREG-0737 ITEMS II.F.1.1 AND II.F.1.2 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 On October 26, 1981, we received Mr. Clark's letter dated October 20, 1981 regarding the status of NUREG-0737 Item II.F.1.1, "High Range Noble Gas Effluent Monitors", and Item II.F.1.2,
" Effluent Monitoring of Radiciodines", for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.
This letter requested that Technical Specification changes necessary for full implementation of these itens be submitted anytime prior to January 1, 1982.
As you are aware, we had not anticipated being able to meet the January 1, 1982 implementation date for these items
_ and had indicated delayed implementation in our NUREG-0737 submittals.
Our most recent letter on NUREG-0737 schedule status dated September 14, 1981 listed a schedule date of May 1, 1982 based on anticipated receipt of equipment for these items.
Since operability of the noble gas and radiciodine effluent monitors is not likely before the above listed date, we believe submittal of a proposed Technical Specification change for a non-operational system would be somewhat premature.
After these systems have been installed, during the time period between installation and full operability, we shall submit a modification to our Change Request No. 33, " Radiological Effluent Technical Specifications", dated January 28, 1980 to include these new effluent monitors in the proposed Table 15.3.9-1, " Radioactive Effluent Monitoring Instrumentation", and Table 15.4.16-1,
" Radioactive Effluent Monitoring Instrumentation Surveillance Requirements".

We have not yet received any contact on the subject.
