STAFF'S ANSUER TO FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT'S 110 TION FOR f40DIFICATION OF PROCEDURAL SCHEDULE On December 22, 1981, Florida Power and Light Company (FP&L) requested the presiding Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (Licensing Boara) to modify the procedural schedule set forth in its Memorandun and Order, dated December 11, 1981.

By Order dated December 23, 1981, the Licensing Board set December 29, 1981, as the date for hand delivery to it of any responses to FP&L's notion.

The Staff has no objection to the nodified schedule proposed by FP&L. As indicated in the settlement agreement, the Staff will not participate in this proceeding on the substantive dispute t,etween the Florida Cities and FP&L. However, the Staff does plan to nonitor the proceedings and participate on issues which go beyond the dispute between 0$bb$$&

PDR

.. the two parties.

In a separate letter to the Board on this date, the Staff is outlining one area where participation is planned.
