Subject:

SUPPLY SYSTEM NUCLEAR PROJECT NO. 2 10CFR50.55(e) #118 SPOOL PIECES APE W/ WALL BELOW MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS In accordance with provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) your staff was informed of the subject condition.

An inspection report (IR-5505) was filed against a spool piece in the High Pressure Core Spray (HPCS) system for surface defects whose depth was in noncompliance with ASME Section II.

A Project Engineering Directive (PED-W215-M3804) was issued to Supply System Test and Startup to ultrasonically test the Low Pressure Core Spray (LPCS) and HPCS spool pieces for surface defects.

The ultrasonic test results of the surface defects proved that the pipe meets ASME Code for minimal wall. A 100% volumetric exam was additionally conducted by Supply System NDE and Startup.

The volumetric examination satisfied Supply System concerns regarding validity of Associated Piping Engineering l

(APE) results. One small linear defect was found on an unrelated pipe j

spool, but will not affect the safe operations of the plant and is being i

corrected at this time.

Therefore, the subject condition has been determined to be not reportable.
