Potentially Reportable 10CFR50.55(e) Deficiency Interim Report on Electrical Cable Tray Support Bolts

Dear Sir:

On Monday, July 27, 1981, we reported a potentially significant deficiency associated with an inconsistency in design information between test data, catalog data, and design allowables for cable tray support systems

[Ref erence (b)]. Specifically, the strut support system used for certain bolted strut fittings could be subjected to slippage at certain bolted strut fittings at loads less than the published allowable loads.

Reference (c) was our interim report on this item.

Our architect engineer, United Engineers & Constructors, Inc. (UE&C),

submitted a 10 CFR 21 report on this potential deficiency related to Public Service Company of New Hampshire - Seabrook Station and Washington Public Power Supply System - WNP 1 and 4 on August 7, 1981.

In Reference (d), UE&C presented the status of ef forts taken to date to resolve this concern and committed to providing a report to your office by June 1, 1982.

This letter is to inform you that we plan to submit a f a, l repolttson this subject by August 1, 1982, following our review of t U EYeport.

Very truly yours g kQ c
