The enclosed IE Information Notice announces a new environmental test sample offered by EPA in cooperation'with the NRC under the Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory Intercomparison Studies Program. The new test sample is radiciodine in water at a concentration of less than'10 pCi/1.
Participation in this program is voluntary unless you have a requirement in your' Technical Specifications or license conditions.

During the last week of January, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with NRC, is planning to distribute test samples of low level radio-iodine in water (<10 pCi/1) through the EPA Environmental Radioactivity Labora-
-tory Intercomparison Studies Program (Crosscheck Program). This test will enable the user laboratory to verify its capability to quantitatively detect low levels of radiciodine in water by radiochemical techniques.
