NOTICE OF VIOLATION-i Yankee Atomic Electric Company Docket No. 50-29 Yankee Nuclear Powar Station License No.'DPR-3 As a resielt of the inspection conducted on October 7-9, 19-30 and November 9-23, 1981, and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66/54 (October 7,1980), the following violation was identified:

Evaluation. The Requalification y
Program shall include:
a.
Annual written examinations which determine areas in which retraining is needed to upgrade the licensed operator and senior operator knowledge."
Yankee Rowe Operator Training Program, AP-0500, Revision 6.Section III, Licensed Operator-Retraining states in part, "A.
Evaluation examination.
1.
Examinations will be administered to each licensed operator and senior operator at least annually.
(Not to exceed 15 months).
Contrary to the above, on October 22, 1981, the licensee records indicated that one Senior Operator had received an annual requalification examination on April 30, 1980, then reexamined on September 9,1981, a period exceeding 15 months.
This is a Severity Level VI Violation (Supplement I)
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Yankee Atomic Electric Company is here-by required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice, a written. statement or explanation in reply, including:
(1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be i
achieved. Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, i
as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation. Where 9ood cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending your response time.-
The responses directed by this Notice are not subject to the clearance procedures-of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act nf 1980 (PL 96-511).
