NRC Letter, Crutchfield to Linde ',.
- s dated April 23, 1981.
Gentlemen:
Reference 1 contained " Safety Evaluation by the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Supporting Relief from Requirements of Section XI ASME Code" for Dairyland Power Cooperative, La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor, Docket No. 50-409.
In the Introduction and Discussion paragraph of the above Safety Evaluation, there were ".... identified selected items, not related to the DPC relief request, that require licensee action."
Paragraph 2.1.1 of the Evaluation contained a staff position that Valves 38-26-001 and 38-26-002, which perform a pressure isolation function (and are the only valves in any LACBWR system that are even similar to an Event V configuration), must be considered for testing per Attachment B of Reference 1.
Attachment B was "S.taff Position, Verification of Leak Tight Integrity of Pressure Isolation Valves".
The required actions of Attachment B are completed.
The results of the pressure boundary test conducted in accordance with the require-ments of items la and 2, of Attachment B, along with the test procedures are enclosed.
Implementation of Item lb of Attachment B, is not applicable and was not invoked.
