Dear !!r. Bauer:

This is in msponse to your request dated August 19,1931, for an extension of the date of your 1932 annual emergency plan exercise past April 1,1982 Ilhile there is no mention of tolerance in the

(

rule, we recognize that individual circumstances may necessitate sone leeway in the tine frame for conducting annual exercises. On the basis of your letter, your request is hereby granted to conduct your exercise no later than !!id-June 1982 De granting of this extension does not imply that your next exercise may be conducted after April 1, 1933.

For your infomation, we question the statenent in the fourth paragraph of your letter in which you state that PEl%'s involvement will be limited. Ile spoke to officials of pef % and they informed us that con-trary to your statement, they will be heavily involved in this exercise.

Our position is that PEl% must be extensively involved if this exercise is to meet the requirenents of a full-scale integrated exercise, as stated in Appendix E to 10 CFR 50 Sincerely, 89tIGIRAL SIcag 3y f0tP.3 F. SICI.:',*
