.? ~s Sheldon J. Wolfe, Esq., Chairman Dr. David R. Schink, Member Dr. George A. Ferguson, Member Atomic Safety and Licensing Board December 2, 1981 call was initiated at the request of Applicant and the Staff to discuss procedures for responding to seven questions asked by the Licensing Board of the Applicant and Staff by letter dated November 12, 1981.
Applicant suggested that answers to the questions be provided orally to the Board at the forthcoming hearing scheduled for December 4, 1981, in lieu of written answers as suggested in the letter. Judge Wolfe stated that the Board desired written answers be filed in advance on November 27, 1981, in accordance with the pre-existing schedule, and accordingly denied Applicant's request. Judge Wolfe further stated that if, as November 27 approached, Applicant or the Staff determined that they needed additional time to file written answers, they should so advise the Board and the Board would consider whether to grant a few additional days beyond November 27 for filing answers.
With respect to question No. 7 of the November 12, 1981 letter, Applicant indicated that it would not be able to respond appropriately because the Staff's latest position on hydrogen control had not yet been made available publicly and, accordingly, had not yet been seen by the Applicant.
Applicant stated that it was committed to comply with cur-rent requirements and intended to comply with any require-ments which subsequently might be imposed. Judge Wolfe requested that if it was possible to respond on the due date of November 27, Applicant and the Staff should respond as appropriate. If appropriate response could not be made, Judge Wolfe requested that the Board be so advised and that the circumstances be placed on the record at the hearing.
Very truly yours,
& W (
