I.E. Bulletin 80-11, " Masonry N ' -

Wall Design" - 180 Day Report af}i$

NRC Docket Nos. 50-237/249 and 50-254/265 -

Reference (a): J. G. Keppler letter to Cordell Reed dated May 8, 1980.

(b): J. S. Abel letter to J. G. Keppler dated November 6, 1980.

(c): Cordell Reed letter to D. G. Eisenhut dated January 23, 1981.

Dear Mr. Keppler:

References (b) and (c) advised the NRC of the Commonwealth Edison Company intent to postpone, until November 1981, the comple-tion of the analysis and reporting requirements of I.E. Bulletin 80-11, Iter 2.b, for our Dresden Station Units 2 and 3 and Quad Cities Station Units 1 and 2.

Attached for your information and use are three (3) copies-each of our postponed 180 day response to the subject bulletin for our Dresden and Quad Cities Stations, as requested in Item 2.b of Reference (a).

In both station responses, we indicate that a number of walls require further evaluation. Our estimate for completion of this evaluation ef fort with submittal of -the results to the NRC is January 29, 1982. For those masonry walls which do not meet our acceptance criteria, the schedule date for completion of the necessary repairs to such walls is June 1,1983. This schedule includes adequate time for design work and procurement of materials.

Additionally, this schedule anticipates the difficulties associated with modifying many of these walls which are located in high radiation areas.
