Subject:

WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM C)

P NUCLEAR PRO.'dCT NOS. 3 AND 5 DOCKET NOS.

50-508 and 50-509 RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 81-02, SUPPLEMENT 1 IE Bulletin 81-02 Supplement 1 identified, for the entire line of Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division Manufactured motor-operated gate valves, the potential of the valves not closing against differential pressure.

The Supply System has investigated the subject matter and determined that no Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division manufactured motor-operated gate valves are or will be installed, or maintained as spares for instal-lation, in safety-related systems where they are required to close against a differential pressure.

Therefore, we consider the subject bulletin not applicable to the WNP-3/5 project.
