In previous correspondence and discussions we advised.you that General Electric Company had been corrmissioned to re-analyze the design basis accident for Dresden Unit 1, using contemporary calculational methods.
The results of this analysis were summarized for your staff on August 15.
We also stated that General Electric was proceeding with the design of additional engineered safeguards and offered to-report on the status of this work by year end.
The conceptual design and functional description of an emergency core spray system have been finished.
The entire design and analysis effort is now approximately 25% complete.
General Electric is currently developing flow diagrams, evaluating alternative methods for injection of coolant into the core and preparing a comprehensive description of the proposed emergency core cooling spray sys tem.
We hope to complete this design and analysis work by March I and to be prepared to meet with representatives of your staff any time after March 10, 1968.
