Thank you for your letter dated May 1, 1973, in response to our letter of February 22, 1973, dealing with your program to assure that valves important to nuclear safety installed at the Dresden and Quad-Cities Stations have wall thicknesses consistent with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
As you know, subsequent to receipt of your May 1 letter, Mr. Vetter of my staff met with you to discuss the contents of the letter. During this meeting, which occurred on May 11, 1973, Mr. Vetter identified a need for: (1) additional information relative to the identity, design, and service parameters for certain of the subject valves, (2) an increase in the number of valves you plan to include in your program
.to verify wall thicknesses, and (3) additional information dealing with the method by which valves will be selected to verify wall thicknesses.
As a result of this meeting and discussion with Mr. Vetter, we under-stand that you will expedite a further review of your program to verify valve wall thicknesses and that you will submit an additional letter covering this matter within the next 30 days.
