Your letter dated July 10, 1972, transmitted your analysie of tho'.
consequences of hydrogen production following the loss-of-emlant 4=
accident, IDOA, for the Dresden Nuclear Power Str. tion Unit ?~o.1 l
Facility License No. D E-2.
Your anab'31s was subnitted in response to our letter dated July i
22, 1971, tion conceming Chnnre :io.17 to the 'IbcWeal Srectesting additional infoma-Welficatiens of the facility.
Based uoon your analysis, you concluded thst there' $3 no hamrd fma hydrogen followins the IDCA and themfem no require-rent for either a hydregn detection system or hydro?.en contml i

L'e have Inviewed your ana~ ysis and have determined that, with

Based upon our review and c:r. lysis of the Pgdrogen p::rduction j
following the IDCA, we conclude that a hydrx> gen control system is not required for Dresden Unit No. 1.
We further ocnclude that the en?hility for neasuring the 4droEen concentration and for Ir.1xing the atmosphere in the contmient following a IOCA should be provided.
[-
'Ihis capability is considered necessary to assure that hydrogen con-centration 1e unifom throughout the corfdment volume and that the hydrogen concentration can be detemined following an accident.
You are requested to sub=it your plans for incorporating the necessary equipment for r-hing the containrmmt atmosphere and for nresuring the hydrogen concentration in the ccntainment of the Dresden Unit No.1 within 90 days frtxa the date of this letter.
