I,'uclear Regulatcry Cone.ission (the Commission) has issued Amendment !;o. 23 to Facility Operating License 1;o. DPR-2, issued to Cenmom ealth Edison Company (the licensee), which revised the license for operation of Dresden Station Unit fjo.1 (the facility) located'in Grundy County, Illinois.
The anenar,ent is ef fective as of its date of issuance and exempts the f acility from certain safety reauirenents.
The anend ent:
(1) extends by exemption fron the recuirerents of 10 CFR 50.46 the date frcn December 31, 1977, to October 3i,1978, for the license te r.odify the Reactor Protection System and Fire Protection System, which was required by tne Connission's Order for !!odification of License dated June 23, 1976, (2) extends by exerption frcn the require-rents of 10 CFR 50.46 the expiration date of the Commission's August 21, 1975 Energent -Core Cooling System (ECCS) Order f rom December 31, 1977, to October 31, 1976, (3) adc: interin license conditions to the license deened necessary ty the Cornission's staff to pro. ice adde 5 assurance that the Emergency Core Cooling Systea will function as recuired, and (a) fornally incorporates the remaining applicable previsions of the June 23, 1976, and August 21, 1975 Order in the license.

The requested exemption by the licensee was for a period ending e: ember 31, 1978, however, the exemption has been issued to expire

The application for the amendment and exemption complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (tne Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Ccmmission's rules ard regulations to 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license a endment.
In connection with item (1) above, Notice of Proposed Issuance of Amendment to Facility Operating License was published in tne Federal Pecister on November 11, 1977 (42 F.R. 58801).
For item (2) Notice of Retuest for Extension of ECCS Exemption was published in the Fe_deral ie;ister on November 30, 1977 ( 42 F.R. 60989).
No requests for hearing or comments were received on items (1) and (2).
Prior public notice of items (3) and (4) above was not required since these actions do not involve a significant hazards consideration.
The Commission has determined that the issuance of this amendment and exsaption will not result in any significant environmental impact a"d that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental irpact statement c-negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be
