Dear Mr. Quarles:
In accordance with the Council on Environanntal Quality's Interim Guid=11 nam and the Commission's revised statement of policy on implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969,,
I am pleased to provide you with twelve copies of the envireamental report prepared by the Duke Power Company for its proposed Oconee Nuclear Station Units 1. 2, and 3.
Comuments are requested withia thirty days concerning those matters over which your, agency has jurisdiction by lar or special expertise with respect to any envi-roomental impact involved or is authorized to develop and enforce i
environmental standards. If no comments are received within the thirty-day period, it will be presumed that your agency has no casuments to make. As provided in paragraph 7(b) of the Councii's Interim Guida14 nam, coussents are not requested with respect to water quality aspects of the proposed action since the Duke Power Company will have to obtain a water quality certification from the appropriate State or interstate pollution control agency.
After we have received the comments of the various Federal, State, and local agencies, we will prepara a detailed environmental statement, including a discussion of any problems or objections raised and the disposition thereof.
