VHWilson I as pleased to provida you with the enclosed detailed statement prepared by the Commission's Division of Reactor Licensing on envirr==mantal considerations in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act relating to the application for an oper-ating license filed by Duke Power Company for the Oconee Nuclear Station, Unit No.1.
A notice of proposed issuance of an opera-ting license was published in the Federal Register on January 8, 1971.
This statement was prepared in accordance with our interim pro-cadures for compliance with the National 2nvironmental Policy Act of 1969, and includes the applicant's environnestal report and che, comments of various Federal, State and local aSencies concerning the environmental effects associated with the pro-posed facility. A notice of the availability of the statement (copy enclosed) is being forwarded to the offiee of the Federal Register for filing and publication.
