[(,-2G9 October 2,1972 Robert C. Paulus, Regulatory Operations, ILEP3 OCONEE I'!SPECTION REPORTS - DELETIO'l 0F " PROPRIETARY DATA" We have reviewed your file which identifies the portions of Oconee Inspection Reports which Duke Power Comany's vendors wish to have deleted before the Reports are made public.
In our ooinion, the reasons offered by the vendors
- are, in general, inadequate.
Furthermore, one vendor has completely failed to identify the data claimed to be oroprietary and simply reauests i
wholesale withholding of complete Inspection Reports.
We recomend that Duke be notified that the Corrdssion will deny the requests and furnish, the pages in question to the intervenor unless, by a specified date (oraferably, ten days or less from the date of your corrunication). we are furnished with (a) full state-nents of reasons which justify the claim that particular data is proprietary and (b) with resoect to the B&W clai:3, pracise identi fi-cation of the data claimed to be proprietary.
To the extent that it is possible to state more specific reasons for denial of any particular requests **, you may wish to do so.
If we agree that any carticular data is clearly proorietary, it would be aportpriate to so advise Duke.
