REDRAFT OF HART Tl1I-2 LETTER Attached is a redraft of the letter to Senator Hart responding to his letter of April 3 and incorporating comments received from OPE, OGC, Commissioners Bradford, Kennedy, Ahearne and Chairman Hendrie.
The redraf t was prepared in OCA and updates and expands upon the earlier staff draft.
flajor changes include the following:
An effort to address Hart's inquiry about derating B&W reactors to 50% power; Additional actions taken by staff are included beginning on Page 2; Reference is made to the ACRS letter of April 9 and the fact that its recommendations are under con-sideration by the Commission; The discussion on emergency planning now includes a description of NRC assistance in this area; This section also now includes the paragraph suggested r
by Com;nissioner Ahearne regarding the NRC review of the licensee's emergency plan; The section also includes a reference to letters which will be sent shortly by the Chairman to governors urging immediate action to upgrade emergency plans;
