i NOTICE OF VIOLATION Centerior Service Company Docket No. 50-440 Perry Nuclear Power. Plant License No. NPF-58 During an NRC inspcction conducted on May-10-14, 1993, a violation of NRC requirements was identified.
In accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C, i
the violation is listed below:
10 CFR 20.201(b) requires that each licensee make such surveys as may be necessary to comply with the requirements of Part 20 and which are reasonable under the circumstances to evaluate the extent of radiation hazards that may by present. As defir.ed in 10 CFR 20.201(a), " survey" means an evaluation of the radiation hazards incident to the production, use, release, disposal, or i
presence of radioactive materials or other sources of radiation under a specific set of conditions.
Contrary to the above, the licensee did not make surveys to determine that individuals were not exposed to airborne concentrations exceeding the limits specified in 10 CFR 20.103. Specifically, on February 17, 1993, a highly contaminated platform used for suppression pool cleaning work was removed and disassembled without an adequate survey being performed.

l The inspection showed that actions had been taken to correct the identified violation and to prevent recurrence. Consequently, no reply to the violation is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter.
