Dear Mr. Richardson:
In accordance with the terms of the subject NPDES permit Part I. B.
1.
item (C), Duke Power Company would like to apply for a permit to construct a dechlorinator for the Sanitary Wastewater Treatment System (WT) discharge which is made through outfall 003.
For this purpose, you will find attached an application form as well as drawings, a site plan, calculations, relevant specifications and the Final Engineering Report all in triplicate.
There will be no change in the volume of the wastestream~from the station as a result of-this installation.
To minimize any disruption of the station operation as well as any environmental impacts, the installation of the dechlorinator will be done during the Winter of 1993-94.
The traatment ponds, including. the polishing pond, will be drawn down as much as is possible prior to the beginning of construction.
Should it become necessary to discharge from the polishing pond during const.cuction, temporary pumps and piping will be used as the installation of the dechlorinator will temporarily render the normal bypass _line inoperable.
