SUBJECT:

SERVICE WATER SYSTEM OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE INSPECTION By letter dated December 17, 1992, we announced plans to conduct a Service Water System Operational Performance Inspection at your Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2, facility. The guidance for conducting the inspection is contained in Temporary Instruction 2515/118, " Service Water System Operational Performance Inspections."

We have subsequently reviewed the inspections of the service water systems that have been conducted at your facility.

Based on these reviews, we have determined that a limited scope inspection would be appropriate. The limited scope Service Water System Operational Performance Inspection will utilize portions of the Temporary Instruction guidance and focus on the implementation of your Service Water System Integrity Program.

The limited scope inspection will be implemented by three Region IV inspectors over a 3-week period. The two, one-week site visits will be separated by one week of inoffice review. We are presently planning to conduct this inspection in May 1994.
