April 2, 1993 Docket No.52-003 APPLICANT: Westinghouse Electric Corporation PROJECT:

Westinghouse AP600

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF MEETING WITH WESTINGHOUSE TO DISCUSS STATUS OF THE AP600 INSPECTIONS, TESTS, ANALYSES, AND ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA (ITAAC)

On February 16, 1993, members of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) staff met with representatives of Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Rockville, Maryland, to discuss the status of ITAAC development for the AP600 design. Westinghouse representatives have been closely following staff-vendor interactions and ITAAC developments associated with GE Nuclear Energy's advanced boiling water reactor and ABB-Combustion Engineering's System 80+

designs.

Westinghouse stated that in light of these recent staff-vendor interactions, revisions to the AP600 ITAAC would be required.

William Russell, NRR, stated that the final version of the AP600 ITAAC cannot be approved until all design issues associated with the AP600's passive safety features and active non-safety systems and other components have been resolved.

The staff also indicated that the inclusion of system diagrams and drawings is highly desirable in the revised AP600 ITAAC submittal.

Westinghouse indicated that it hoped to submit a revised :et of AP600 ITAAC, incorporating changes based on recent industry ITAAC developments and NRC-vendor interactions in June 1993.

Enclosed is a list of meeting attendees.
