M83866).
By letters dated July 29, 1992 and October 2, 1992, you provided responses to NRC Bulletin 92-01 " Failure of Thermo-Lag 330 Fire Barrier System to Maintain Cabling in Wide Cable Trays and Small Conduits Free from Fire Damage" and its supplement, respectively, for Crystal River Unit 3 (CR-3). In your responses you also provided a description of the long-term corrective actions to restore operability.
Your prestat compensatory measures include 1-hour roving fire watches for all areas that use Thermo-Lag for cable trays, conduits, enclosures, junction.
boxes, and supports as fire barrier material for protection and separation of.
safe ebutdown functions.
You also state that Thermo-Lag is not used on walls and ceilings.
It is our understanding that these compensatory measures will remain in place until corrective actions are taken to assure the operability of these fire barriers.
Your long-term corrective actions to ensure or restore operability include monitoring of industry activities and participation in the process of developing appropriate actions to restore operability.
These generic.
activities are being coordinated by NUMARC.
You state you will support efforts to resolve these issues in a timely manner and will apply the results of these efforts to CR-3 as appropriate.
