During an NRC inspection conducted January-18, 1993 through February. 19, 1993,-
a violation of NRC requirements was identified.
In accordance with the'
" General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions,"
[
10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C, the following violation is listed below.
1 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion III, states in part, that design control j
measures shall provide for verifying the adequacy of the design.
Contrary to the above, from November 2,1992, through February 14, 1993, design control did not verify the adequacy of Modification No. CGF024,
" Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) 1A (18) RUN/ IDLE Switch." Specifically, the design control process failed to identify that a necessary seal-in circuit, to bypass the idle mode of operation, had not been provided.
This is a Severity Level IV Violation (Supplement 1).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this i
office within thirty days of the date of this Notice a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each violation:
(1) the corrective steps l
that have been taken and the results achieved; (2);the corrective steps that will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full i
compliance will be achieved Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
