!

We are planning to conduct a Service Water System Operational Performance

Inspection (SWSOPI) at your Cooper Nuclear Station during the period July 13

through Au9_st 13, 1993. The inspection schedule was revised from that

presented in our December 17, 1993, letter to accommodate other site

-

activities. This revised schedule was discussed with Mr. G. Smith of your

,

staff on January 25, 1993.

i

The inspection will be conducted in accordance with Temporary Instruction

2515/118, " Service Water System Operational Performance -Inspections (SWSOPI)."

"

The team leader and principal contact for this inspection effort is Mr. Philip

Wagner. The inspection team will consist of the team leader, three

inspectors, and a mechanical design consultant.

j

In order to implement an efficient inspection, the team would like to conduct

a short entrance meeting with those involved members of your staff at 1 p.m.

on July 13, 1993. At the conclusion of the entrance meeting, the team'would

,

appreciate a short (one hour) presentation on the design, operation, and

history of the service water system. The team will spend the remainder of the

,

first week in meetings with members of your staff to identify documentation

>

needs and in completing the necessary training to support unescorted access to

the facility for NRC personnel. The team leader will request an escort for

i

the consultant as necessary.

-

' Attached to this letter is a list of materials that the team will require for

i

the inspection. We request that the materials be made availabie for the taam

!
