A routine, unannounced,
safety inspection of the radiological

controls program at Peach Botton Nuclear Generating Station was

conducted by S.

Chawaga and
P.
O'Connell on three

visits to the site and the corporate offices between February 26
!
and March 28, 1990.
Areas covered during this inspection included
a review of the radiological controls department organization,

staffing levels,
and the qualifications of
the staff.
The
'
'
inspectors also reviewed training programs for the various staff-
levels, the selection and training of health physics contractor
'
technicians, in-plant radiological controls, and corporate health
physics support.
'
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.-
However, the inspection identified concerns regarding the recent
elimination of the Applied Health Physics Supervisor position and
the potential expansion of the Advanced Radiation Worker program.

These issues will be the subject of close review during future
inspections,
