i As a result of recent discussions between TV Electric and the NRC: staff, the following information regarding Borg Warner / International Pump..Inc. (BW/IP),
check valve swing arms is submitted. This letter provides additional.
information on the material specifications and inspections for the new BW/IP swing arms (investment cast type) which have been. installed in CPSES Unit l' The commitments discussed in Reference 1 remain unchanged.
Reference 2 recommended that replacement swing arms should include appropriate'-
I specifications to ensure high quality.
It was recommended that Grade CB7CU1
. i investment cast arms should.be fabricated from 17-4 PH stainless steel per ASTM 747 specification with Supplements S6 (material certification). S14 '
(tension test), S26 (homogenization heat treatment), and S27 (marking / identification). The procurement documents for the replacement. swing arms invoked this ASTM material specification and the recommended supplements-stated above.
Note that Reference 2 incorrectly identified Supplement S11 for material certification.
During the fabrication of investment cast swing arms.
TV Electric OA/0C personnel were'present at the manufacturer's facilities to verify conformance to the procurement documents.
