PROPOSED LICENSE-TO EXPORT REACTOR MATERIALTOCANADA(XMAT0343)

On March-2, 1989, NRC received a license' application.from Aldrich Chemical-Company to export 14,550 kilograms of deuterium oxide, for upgrading in Canada and returned tc, the'U.S. for use in NMR~ Work.

j The applicant-has requested expeditious processing of the license request as the material is ready for immediate shipment' and-is urgently needed.

The staff has concluded that the proposed: export meets the requirements of'

,the Atomic Energy Act and would not be inimical to the common defense'and-security of the United States.

In view of the above considerations, the staff issued the license without j

the normal 30-day waiting. period, t
