The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region I, is f anning'a conference for l power reactor: Radiation Protection Managers:(RPhy and their deputies.

The conference is scheduled for May 23-24, 1990, at King lof; Prussia, Pennsylvania.

The purpose of. 's sonference is to exchange'information between NRC and-licensee staf.' oa issues of mutual interest relating to power reactor-radiologicci w als programs.

Members of_ my staff have contacted your RPM as well as RPMs=at other stations.within Region I in order'to. identify topics 9

of particular i_nterest.

- As a result of our initial contacts, we plan to make presentations on NRC i

requirements and' expectations in such areas as:High Radiation Area access control, hot particle controls, and: radiation exposures-to' females. We also plan to discuss the' status of the proposed 10 CFR 20..' Topics such'as=the= EPA:

Clean Air Act reporting requirements, transportation activities, low level waste storage, laboratory measurements, and effluent monitors will be' included-if.

sufficient interest is expressed-in these ' areas; :We encourage;1icensee: staffs'-

participation, presentations.and frank-discussions during.the: conference.

We are inviting you.to send your RPM and his deputy or-other person:in a.

similar capacity to the conference. To facilitate planning, we would,like you to-inform us of:the names'of your staff members who plan to attend, proposed

.topict you would like_ to place on the' agenda as well-as the titles and brief -

j summaries of any presentations which your staff would like' to give during the conference.

This information is requested no later than March 31, 1990.-

The. conference.will be held at the Valley Forge Hilton, King 'of; Prussia, Pennsylvania. Based on initial projections of attendance, we haveLset~.aside a block of-50 rooms at the Valley Forge Hilton.

Room reservations:at the Hilton should be confirmed prior to May 7,1990. Details regarding this hotel and i

It is our understanding that Mr. Cellmer is coordinating a pre-conference meeting with NRC. Region I, RPMs. This meeting is to be held on May 22, 1990. Your staff should contact him for details regarding this pre-conference meeting.
