Your letter of June 16,1989 (ELV-00615) responded to NRC Bulletin 89-01,

" Failure of Westinghouse Steam Generator Tube Mechanical Plugs," for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units I and 2.

Your response. stated that:

1.

Georgia Power Conpany (GPC) has verified that no plugs from heat nunbers 3279, 3513, 3962, and 4523 are installed in any VEGP steam generators.

2.

GPC will not install any Westinghouse nechanical plugs from the subject heats in the VEGP steam generators.

3.

GPC will examine, on a sample basis for primary water stress: corrosion cracking (PWSCC), nochanical plugs removed from VEGP steam generators regardless of heat nunter.

The records of these PWSCC examinations will be maintair.ed and the results provided to Westinghouse.

The above stated actions adequately address the NRC Bulletin requirenents and provide a sufficient basis for closure of NRR's review of this licensing issue.

Further NRC review, if any, will be pursued through the inspection or audit process.
