March 19,.1990 Mr. Ladin Delaney, Executive Officer California Regional Water Quality Control Board San Diego Region 9771 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Suite B San Diego, California 92124-1331
Dear Mr. Delaney:
Subject:
NPDES Monitoring Report San Onofre W clear Generating Station, Unit 1 The NPDES monitoring report for San Onofre Unit I covering the month of February is submitted in accordance with the requirements of CRWQCB Order 88-001 (NPDES Permit No. CA0001228). A summary of the generating unit's status and significant analytical results is provided below.
The unit was operational during February. All. sampled water sources were found to be within permit limits, except the plant drain, which was high'on grease and oil.
Investigation determined that the method of pumping oil trapped in sumps tended to emulsify the oil, with subsequent poor separation.
This process has been changed, with any trapped oil being removed directly from the sumps by vacuum truck.
Pursuant to Order No. 88 001, Reporting Requirement 12, the following representative is authorized to sign and certify all reports required by this order: Arthur Kneisel, Environmental Engineer.
I certify under penalty of law that I have aersonally examined and am familiar with the information submitted in the attac1ed document, and based on my inquiry of those individuals immediately responsible for obtaining the information, I believe the submitted information is true, accurate, and complete.
I am aware that there are significant penalties for submitting false information, including the possibility of fine and imprisonment.
Sincerely, h
