TROJAN NOCLEAR PLANT I

f Trojan Operating Report March 1990 i

r QPERATIONS The Plant began the mont.h in Mode 1, at 2005 power.

Power operation proceeded smoothly until March 20th when an orderly shutdown was made, ending 167 days of continuous operation.

The shutdown was due to an identified En6 neered i

Safety Teature instrument setpoint for steam flow being outside the Technicai Specification allowed value. As the shutdown was required by the Technical Specifications, the Emergency Plan required declaring an Unusual Event. This was terminated in approximately four hours when the plant entered Mode 4 j

As the 1990 refueling outage was scheduled to begin on March 21't the plant l

remained shutdown and started the outage early.

The Plant ended the month in Mode 5, with the Reactor Coolant system temperature at 95 degrees F and the i

1990 refueling outage inprogress.

KAINTENANCE Significant maintenance completed during this period includes:

f The Chlorine detectors," declared inoperable on December 12th, were restored to l

operability on March 15 '.

l i

Major activities necessary to enter Mode 6, performance of surveillance tests, and other work items in preparation for refueling.
