. GENERATING PLANT UNIT NOS. 1 and 2 Bulletin 88-10'" Nonconforming Molded Case Circuit Breakers" and Supplement i requests licensees to provide reasonable assurance that molded-case circuit

- breakers (CBSs), purchased for use in safety-related application without verifiable traceability to the manufacturer can perform their intended safety functions.

By letters dated March 31, 1989 and November 6, 1989 Northern Station Power Company (NSP) responded to Bulletin 88-10 as it applies to the Prairic Island

-Nuclear generating Plant Unit Nos. I and 2.

As result of Supplement 1, NSP, by letter-dated November 6, 1989 reviewed and verified that the provisions of the bulletin have been met and provided additional clarification on the actions taken with' respect ~to the six non-traceable molded case circuit breakers.

We find that:NSP' has adequately responded to Bulletin 88-10 and Supplement 1, although a detail technical review of the responses has not been performed; E However, this area may be subject to inspection at a later date.'.If a subsequent inspection identifies deficiencies in your actions and responses, this issue will be re-opened.

Presently, the staff considers your response to Bulletin 88-10 complete for the Prairie Nuclear Generating Plant Unit Nos. I and.2.

This completes our efforts under TAC NOS. 71340 and 71341.
