Dear Mr. Madsen:
The purpose of this letter is to close out the concerns regarding weld discrepancies in the Main Control Panels and Auxiliary Relay Racks fur-nished to Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit No. 1 by Comsip Customline Corporation.
The Architect / Engineer's evaluations of the seismic testing program and the results of the inspection program of the as-welded panels at the Wolf Creek site, as indicated in the Referenced Report, have been completed.
The conclusion of the Architect / Engineer and Comsip is that the as-built welds can withstand at least twice the stress levels calculated to occur i
during a safe shutdown earthquake (SSE).
This conclusion was reached through a combination of inspections, tests and analyses.
The final disposition of the weld discrepancies found in the Comsip panels indicates that no significant defects or deficiencies exist which would adversely affect the safety of the plant. Therefore, we have concluded that this matter is not reportable under Regulation 10CFR50.55(e). The test results and analyses are documented in a report which is available for your review.
