Docket No. 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 3 This will confirm our telephone conversation with Mr. T. W. Bishop of your office on November 20, 1981 in which we requested an extension on the time for reporting on a potentially significant deficiency.
In a letter to your office dated October 26, 1981, we identified a condition which we considered potentially report-able in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e).
The condition involves reflector indications noted during ultrasonic testing performed for Preservice Examination (PSE) of the Unit 3 Reactor Pressure Vessel.
Our evaluation is continuing and will require additional time to complete.
A final report will be submitted on or before December 7, 1981.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, we would be pleased to discuss them with you at your convenience.
