The Atomic Energy Co=nission (the Commission) has issued, effective as of the date of issuance, Amendment No. 8 to Facility License No. R-73 7
dated April 31, 1961. The license presently authorizes the University of Washington to possess, use and operate the Argonaut-type nuclear

-reactor on the University's campus e.t Seattle, Washington, at power l,
levels up to 100 kilowatts (thermal). The amendmen) extends the expi-i ration date to October 13, 1989 The Commission has fotind that the application for the amendment complies with the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's regulations published in 10 CFR, Chapter I and that the issuance of the amendment will not be inimical to the common. defense and security or to the health and safety of
