Description C 39969 RCN 246 1pw_1 Refueling Water C 39969 RCN 247 2FW-1 Storage Tank Above vessels are designed and field fabricated to Section III Class 2 of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and requires full Radiographic examination. Radiographic services including Level III review and acceptance of film were subcontracted to approved vendors.
Further review of film has raised questions concerning acceptable density limits and possible latent defects in double butt welded joints.
5.
RECO was aware of questions about acceptable density limits in late July, 1981. RECO notified of safety related application by Duke Power Company 11-16-81.

Radiographic film in question are being retaken; any weld found deficient will be repaired. T,erms of any repair required to be negotiated between RECO Industries, Inc. and Duke Power Company.
Estimate 90 days to determine extent of problem and implement

corrective action.

Duke Power Company is working concurrently with RECO Industries, Inc.
to jointly resolve outstanding questions.
