Dear Mr. Jones:
Gray File "2,,
y In reply to your letter of August 27, 1981, the issuance of aut iMpiph to store source material in the fom of urarrium hexafluoride (UF6 Fort Calhoun site could be accommodated by the issuance of a source material license by the State of Nebraska or NRC. He have discussed this matter with Nebraska regulatory officials and they favor issuance of a license s
by NRC. We are therefore treating your letter of August 27, 1981, with its 3(tached technical infomation, as an application to MRC for on-site storage of UF. This course of action has been discussed with and agreed G
to by your staff.
In conducting a review of your August 27 letter, we have determined the need for cdditional infomation, identified in the enclosure to this letter, to complete ourcreview of this natter. Your response should be scheduled so as to allow us a 45-day period for final review and processing of your application.
We view your proposed activity as requiring a new source material 1,icense and therefore, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.31, a license fee of $140 will be required. You are requested to remit this amount with your response to this letter.
Plea e contact us if you have any questions concerning this request.
Sincerely, Onginal signed by Robert A. Clark Robert A. Clark, Chief 811130040781111$
