This is in response to your l'atter of September 17, 1981 requesting that we recor, sider our position, stated in our August 5,1981 letter, with regard-to separate test cycles for splice operators. We are aware of the NRC July,1981 notification withdrawing, among others, Regulatory Guide 1.10'and that the notification stated that the current regulatory position on cadwelding would be covered by ANSI N45.2.5 per Regulatory Guide 1.94.
However, the 4ithdrawal letter also stated that: "[y]ithdrawal of these guides is in oo way intended to alter any prior or existing licensing comnitments based on their use." Accordingly, our position relative to this natter remains as stated in our August 5,1931 letter.
