Program Code #22160 License Number SNM-1691 We are responding to your notification of 9/3/81 which addressed notice of expiration for the Special nuclear Material License #1691 which expires on 11/30/81. This license is for use of plutonium 238 as a sealed source for implant-ation in humans as a component of cordis nuclear omni-stanicor model 184A nuclear-powered cardiac pacemaker for clinical evaluation purposes. The by-product is a sealed source; our maximum possession limits is 2.25 g. (10 individual sources not to exceed 225 mgs each).
James O. Finnegan, M.D., William H. Lemon, M.D., and Edward R. Hagopian, M.D.
thoracic surgeons who appear as authorized users of the by-product material, were contacted concerning the expiration notice. Review by those physicians reveals that they have not procured any materials authorized under this license. In addition, each proposes that thn lie nnco not be renewg.
