7 This is to inform you of the NRC procedure to implement and administer a network of direct radiacion monitoring stations using thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) around licensed facilities.
As a result we plan to place about 35 thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) in the vicinity of the Enrico Fermi Atomic Plant, Unit 2, within the next month.
These serve as part of the NRC emergency planning efforts around your site and will be located within the 10 mile Emergency Planning Zone. Certain TLDa will be colocated with your supplementary TLDs and others will be at different locations. The intent is for the TLDs to measure gamma exposure within the 16 sectors of the compass if possible.
We have been in telephone conversation with Mrs. E. Madsen of your staff regarding placing some of the dosimeters on your electric poles. If there are any problems with this arrangee nt, please inform us within ten days of your raceipt of this letter.
The State of Michigan Department of Public Health, through a contract with NRC, will be responsible in exchanging the TLDs each quarter. The exposed 8111100657 811103 PDR ADOCK 05000341 F
