Dear Mr. Smith:
ut The uproar at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant by tne usual activists has me very concerned.
Not because of their childish attempts at blockade, but because I envision something a lot worse.
Nothing would please the Jane Fonda-Tom Hayden types than another Three Nile Island.
They figure the resulting public outcry could doom nuclear power in this country.
Therefore, what is to stop these people from infil trating, getting one of their own hired as one of the operators in the plant, once it is operational, and deliberately throwing the wrong switch or opening the wrong valve.
I give our government enough credit to have thought of this possibility, but the climate of recent years to curb the activities of our investigational bureaus makes me concerned that the potential employees will not be thoroughly screened.
It is absolutely vital that the background of applicants be screened more carefully than ever before.
Very truly ycers, O
