Dear Mr. Groce:
Gray File Dy letter dated April 13, 1581 we sent to you a Safety Evaluation Report with a request that you submit an analysis of flooding of safety-related equipment in the Turbine Building resulting from a failure of the circulating water piping intthis area. By letter dated July 31, 1981 you provided the requested analysis.
Our subcontractor, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has reviewed your July 31, 1981 submittal and finds that after installation i
of the passive openings in the side of the Turbine Building._as described in your July 31, 1981 submittal, the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station has the capacity and capability to manage and mitigate any single incident, such as flooding from a non-Class 1 system, component or pipe, so that flooding will not prevent a safe shutdown of the plant. We concur with the LLhl conclusion and therefore consider this matter closed, A copy of the LLNL's Supplement to Technical Evaluation is enclosed for your information.
Sincerely, i
