McGuire Nuclear Station Response to Unresolved Item 369/82-27-01, 370/81-15-01 The subject report contains an unresolved item (369/82-27-01 and 370/81-15-01) concerning identification of cable trays.
Specifically, non-conforming item report (NCI) 13459 was issued identifying a problem with identification stick-ers falling off cable trays. Disposition of the NCI was to reapply the stick-ers using a loctite glue.
The NRC inspector questioned this disposition since it had not been approved by Design Engineering. Following is a description of the course of action to resolve both the NCI and the NRC unresolved item.
(Note that new NCI-13f " :.ms written to document this concern since NCI 13459 had been closed out).
Installation Specification MCS-1390.01-00-36 or Specification MCS-1390.01-00-61 will be revised to indicate the acceptable methods for identifying safety-re-lated cable trays, conduits and wireways.
This document will specif: that a per-manent marking system be used to identify the subject equipment. Permanent mark-ings will consist of either permanent tags affixed to, or mounted on the cable trays, wireways and conduits or other identification applied directly to the cable tray with appropriate permanent marking medium.
This specification will apply to safety -related cable trays, conduits and wire-ways in McGuire Unit 2 during construction and McGelre Unit I when installation of new cable is necessary.
It is not the intent of this specification to require rr etacement of missing labals in an operating unit since these labels are not ne-cessary for the safe operation of the unit.
Similarly, on Unit 2, wholiaale re-placement of the identification tags or markings will not be required.
This iden-tification will be required to be in place to identify the routing of new cable.
