Descrip tion i
A s'tcel encased, lead shielded c.sk for non-fissile radioactive material.
The overall dimensions of the cask are 40 inchds diameter l
by 193 inches long.
The cask consists of two concentric stainless steel cylindrical shells.
The inner shell is 5/8 inch thick by i
28 inch ID; the outer stain'ess steel shell is 1-1/2 inch thick by 39-1/4 OD and a 3-1/2 inch pound lead shield fills the space l
between.
The outer shell is currounded by a 0.140 inch thick stainless steel ther::al shield sopirated by a 0.125 inch thick l
stainless steel spacer wire.
The cavity is 28 inches in dia":eter i
by 167 inches long.
The base is a welded stainless steel. con-l struction with 3 inches of poured lead.
The flanged lid is of stainless steel and lead.
Closure is provi.ded by twenty 1-1/2 inch
'diarmter bolts and a GA3K-0-SI:AL, closure seal.
The e are two pene-trations into the containment vessel for drain lines which are plugged l
and gaskel,ed with a neoprene seal.
The cask is equipped with removable, canned balsa impact liaiters at each end.
The overall dinensions of i
the cask with impact limiters in place are 84 inches in diameter by 236 inches long.
The cask has four lifling trunnions, two redundant l
pairs for lif ting.
Three of the trunnions are.used for tie-down of the cask for shipr. tent.
The package gross weight is approximately 62,000 pounds.

In. prepar. ion for shipment, the l
cask cavity shall be drained of all excess water.
A vacuum pump shall be used to reduce the cavity pressure below the vapor pressure corresponding to the measured temperature of the drained water.
The cavity pressure shall be held below the vapor pressure determined for at least 90 minutes.

Fabric'ation, assembly, testing, use and maintenance shall be in accordance with the ANEFCO, Incorporated quality assurance program, as amended and Section 5 of the Safety Analysis Report, as amended.
