O Mr. James R. Miller Chief, Standardization and igq Special Projects Branch Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Mr. Miller:
Subj ect: Revised Emergency Preparedness Plan - Cocket No. 50-184 Some time ago, NBS prepared a revised emergency preparedness plan to meet the new requirements of 10CFR-50 Appendix E.
The NBS plan is based on NRC guidelines identified in the regulations.
As they currently exist, these gsidelines, however, do not fully satisfy the new require-ments of the regulations.
It is our understanding that new guidelines ire being prepared by the Commission to correct this discrepancy.
NBS, therefore, proposes to withhold submittal of its revised emergency preparedness plan until such time as revised appropriate guidelines are issued by the Coumission and the NBS plan is revised accordingly.
In the interim, NBS has in effect a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan to deal with potential emergencies.
Sincerely, fl.g,k // k&W Robert S. Carter Chief, Reactor Radiation Division h
