Mr. Robert Jaske, Acting Director 1tadiological Emergency Preparedness Division federal Emergency Management Agency Donohue Building 500 C Street, S.W.

Washington, D. C.

Dear Bob:

Dr August 10, 1981, I wote to John Dickey about some difficulties licensees are having in obtaining licenses for frequencies to activate sirens or the NOAA weather radios.

In this letter I requested FEMA to assist in resolving these difficulties with the Federal Communications Commission and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administra+ ion.

During a recent Comission meeting, Commissioner Gilinsky requested that he be kept infa med on FEMA's progress on this matter.

I therefore request that you provide me with a status of FEMA's actions in response to our August 10, 1981 request and continue to provide subsequent updates until the matter is resolved.

Sincere s

Brian K. Grimes, Director Division of Emergency Preparedness Office of Inspection and Enforcement 8110270348 811019 gDRADOCK05000
