Our primary goal is to provide employees who sustain industrial injuries Your requiring medical attention with prompt, first-class treatment. assistance in this endeavor is appreciated. There is an area of concern to us. While the number of employees that require treatment by a physician has remained stable or in some cases ^ (/ declined, the number of disabling injuries requirinj time away from work, i.e., lost time injuries, has dramatically increasec. We believe that some of this time away from work might possibly be avoided if the availability of light (modified) duty or desk-type work were more widely known. Some physicians have stated that in some cases the patient will respond more rapidly to treatment if kept busy in a ligr+ duty capacity. Productive, light-duty assignments are almost always availablu .r employees released for work within the medical restrictions established by the physician. It our policy to have an injured employee accompanied by"a supervisor or Should there be any ques-other representative on the first doctor's visit. tion about the availability or type of light daty that can be provided, he or she will be able to answer for us. Our employees' welfare is our main concern. Should you have any questions about our program, I will be glad to call on you at your convenience. Sincerely, R. C. THORNBERRY RCT:kgb e em -v
